Who Is Your Inner Child?
Another helpful way to access more Creativity is through a healthy relationship with your inner child. She is an aspect of your personality that may have been in hiding due to a traumatic event that you experienced in childhood. That is why it is so important to reintroduce or reconnect to this spontaneous and playful aspect of yourself.
From up until 6 years of age we are highly influenced by our environment and those people who occupy it. Our brains are functioning at the Theta brainwave frequency which is very receptive to all our experiences and impressions. As you can imagine, your parents and siblings can have a huge influence in setting up your early understandings of how the world works and how to stay safe. During this time, we can experience different types of trauma that can place associations of shame, guilt, and fear into our psyche.
Normal navigating of the world can appear scary to a child who feels unprotected and vulnerable! This can take the form of simple misunderstandings that were not actually harmful to intensifying acts of cruelty that can cause immense fear. Most everyone has experienced some negative trauma of a sort in childhood; however, professional help needs to be contacted in the event of highly traumatized events that are continuing to invade the subconscious mind of the “now” adult. When we continue to access these memories into our adulthood, they can cause anxiousness, depression, and self-sabotaging.
The inner child we want to discuss in regard to Creativity is the child that may have been told their art wasn’t up to snuff or their playing of an instrument was inferior. There could have been some misleading and insensitive comment made by an authority figure that crushed the child’s enthusiasm and belief in their abilities and possibilities. By identifying when the pattern originated, we are able to work through the use of a visualization journey to clear the misunderstanding and blockage. By rewriting the incident in their subconscious mind, we can establish a renewed sense of confidence and healthy self-esteem.
Your inner child is a part of your subconscious mind and you need to access her in order to free yourself of memory blocks from childhood. By using “inner work” tools for expressing a sense of safety, love, and compassion to your inner child, you will help her and yourself let go of outdated pains from the past.
This is what I mean by bringing more JOY into your life! Your creativity can be greatly enhanced by accessing the wonder, joy, innocence, sensitivity and playfulness of your inner child. I can help you achieve this!
