Enhancing Academic Study Skills
With school starting for so many students, we truly want the best experience for our children or ourselves. Learning should be fun and there are certain ways we can improve the absorption and retention of our studies. By experiencing success in school your child does not have to experience the usual loss of self-esteem and reoccurring fear of failure.
One way is to set aside a conducive place for study without unnecessary interruptions and distractions. Preferably sitting at a table and not laying on the bed or lounging on the floor, which can make it far too easy to start daydreaming or fall asleep. Ideally, you would plan on the same time of day so you train your mind to readily go into study mode. This is the same as exercising our body at an allotted time so it becomes a good habit. We similarly need to train and exercise our mental muscles as well.
Allowing yourself periods of time ranging from 20-30 minutes has been proven to be the amount of time allotted for the brain to maintain it’s concentration and focus on the material involved. Then taking a ten-minute break before you go back for another study session of 20-30 minutes. Repeating the same actions creates a welcome familiarity for the subconscious mind. This definitely maximizes the effectiveness of study time.
When test taking, it is most helpful to be able to relax and go into an altered state to maximize your recall of facts. By using self-hypnosis techniques while you are studying, you can effortless transfer the material from your mind to the test. This is achieved by using your enhanced study methods and understanding how you can control your focus and concentration.
We truly need to change our beliefs and experiences about studying. Having the resourceful tools to create self-motivation, is invaluable in retaining a productive and rewarding outcome in school. No one argues over the importance of a good education! Offering the student, a calm and collected mindset about learning and studying, gives them an advantage that every child should have. Learning self-hypnosis for school puts your child in the position of success for academics as well as life!
